CLEARROCKS Wholesale Diamonds

The Secret of Pricing

Diamond and gem pricing can be confusing. Buyers are often overwhelmed at ever-changing prices, the opacity of the trade and their own inexperience. For a consumer, a diamond purchase is often a “blind purchase” – an investment they often know little about. Walking into a retail establishment and feeling forced into making a decision is a daunting and sometimes unpleasant experience that most buyers would not want to go through for such a personal purchase.

Even seasoned trade buyers can be intimidated when they are asked to source a certain quality they are not accustomed to buying. This is even more marked for fancy coloured diamonds which seem to have no pricing guidelines and whose value is often determined at the seller’s discretion. CLEARROCKS knows the international market thoroughly and are in a unique position to offer the fairest of valuations in purchasing or selling jewellery.

CLEARROCKS’ mission is to source jewels at an extraordinary value based on product expertise, good negotiating skills, much diligent exploring, and passing that value on to customers.

With CLEARROCKS, clients can rest assured that they will always get the piece they desire at the lowest possible prices with no hassles and unrivalled personal service. Every enquiry is treated with courtesy and the utmost discretion. If a particular gem has caught your fancy, please do not hesitate to contact us for a consultation and a price estimate.

PRICE GUIDE

$5,000 - $7,500

Very nice quality diamonds on the low carat end of the range (0.8 – 1.0), but be wary of larger stones. Make sure you are familiar with the 4 Cs of diamond quality before purchasing. The 1.25 – 1.50 ct. stones in this price range often have one or more of the following: visible inclusions (flaws), mediocre colour quality ("faint yellow"), and/or a poor cut which affects the brilliance of the diamond.

$7,500 - $10,000

This price range supplies some big and beautiful diamonds. The best value is generally found in the 1.00 - 1.50 carat range. Less spectacular, but lovely diamonds in the 1.51 - 1.75 carat range can be found in this price range. The 1.76 - 2.00 carat stones in this price range often have one or more of the following: visible inclusions (flaws), mediocre colour quality ("faint yellow"), and/or a poor cut which affects the brilliance of the diamond.

$10,000 - $15,000

This is the lowest price range where one may expect some decent quality 2-carat stones (and the 1-carat stones in this price range will stir the heart of the toughest critic). The smaller stones in this range will generally be of greater value and quality, but some "lovely-to-the-eye" 2-carat diamonds are also available. The 2.00 - 2.50 carat stones in this price range often have one or more of the following: visible inclusions (flaws), mediocre colour quality ("faint yellow"), and/or a poor cut which affects the brilliance of the diamond. NOTE: While you can expect to find a varied selection of up to 2.50 carat stones, greater carat weights are less abundant and you will have a relatively small number of diamonds from which to choose.

$15,000 and upwards

The same principles apply: the larger the stone and finer the quality, the higher the price.
