WE PLANNED A PARAGLIDING ADVENTURE...

in the French Alps. With our instructors strapped to our backs, I was the first to run off the mountain with Stefan behind me. Just as I was settling into my harness and enjoying the magnificent scenery in the sky, I heard Stefan’s voice echoing across the Alps “Will You Marry Me?” I turned around and saw him yelling at the top of his lungs as he ran off the mountain into the air! Talk about an adrenaline rush!

ONE NIGHT, HE TOOK ME TO THE HOUSE THAT...

we were in the process of building. The ring’s box lit up when as it was opened, so with my back to him, he opened it, causing me to turn around, then got down on one knee and proposed.

IT WAS OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY...

and we were going out for dinner. I knew something was up, but did not suspect anything so important. He planned to pick me up at 7:30, but was late. I was really upset and about thirty minutes later, he arrived in a limousine. It was so beautiful, I cried. I still had no idea what was really going on. We went to a stunning restaurant that had a private section closed off just for us. My favourite rose petals were strewn all over the place. I still had no idea. He was very nervous, but I just thought he planned on singing to me, which he did and it was lovely. He ordered dinner for me and dessert. The dessert arrived in a treasure chest. After a little nibbling I was told to crack the chest open. WOW, the most beautiful ring was sitting in the middle of all the mousse. He got down on one knee and, of course, I said yes.

I PUT A RING IN A CARVED OUT DICTIONARY...

When she unwrapped the book under the Christmas tree, she tossed it aside without looking inside. She was disappointed for most of the day, and finally looked at the book later - only to discover the engagement ring inside. She was embarrassed, and humbly said “Yes”.

MY BOYFRIEND TOOK ME TO ...

a beautiful (and very expensive) restaurant that had just won a nation-wide television competition, for our anniversary. Usually it takes two or three hours to get seated, but he arranged it so we could walk straight in and have our table. He was stroking my hand, while we were waiting for dinner, and I said, that maybe something will happen with that hand. He said “How about tonight?”, got down on one knee, and told the entire restaurant how much he loved me and wanted to spend his life with me. I started crying, said “Yes”, and the entire restaurant got up and cheered for us. The restaurant was filled with celebrities, and it was televised nationally! It was the most amazing night of my life!

WE WENT TO A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND RETREAT...

This was a long overdue vacation for both of us and I was ecstatic to finally spend three long days away. I love to watch the sunrise, so on our second day, I was strolling by the shore and picking seashells. Damian is not usually a morning person so I was very happy that he agreed to walk with me and greet the new day. I never had a clue that he was planning something big that morning. I did not even doubt his enthusiasm in helping me look for coloured seashells and pebbles. He was babbling on about a movie that he had seen, then stopped mid-sentence to point out something that was partly covered in the sand. I bent over to check it out and saw that it was a small velvet box. Curious, I turned to him and found him kneeling before me. My heart started to pound and it became difficult to breathe when I realised that he was going to propose! He took both of my hands in his and gently kissed them.

I See Love in the Cards

Bring her to get her tarot cards read. Ask the reader to include seeing a diamond ring in the near future. This would be your cue to kneel down with the ring.

Love is in the Air

Have a plane sky-write your proposal. Plan it for the day of a family picnic, boat ride or other outing so she will be sure to see it. Have your ring ready when she sees your proposal.

Remember that this moment will last forever, and the most important thing is for it to be heartfelt. Even if the two of you are sitting at home in front of the television, the emotions will be real and that memory is what will stay with you for a lifetime.
