This skill has been developed through a decade of gem dealing; knowledge acquired only by seeing thousands of stones and discovering each gem’s innate potential.
The process of re-cutting is time-consuming, exacting, and potentially costly. The risks here lie with inexperienced hands where the gem would not be thoroughly pre-examined, thereby creating issues such as breakage, chipping, asymmetry, or unnecessary weight loss during the process. The goal of re-cutting is to increase clarity by removing inclusions where possible, improving brilliance and sometimes colour by enhancing the cut, whilst minimizing weight loss in the final product. Through this process and CLEARROCKS’ expertise, a diamond of lesser quality can be re-cut to create a superior final product, adding value to the stone.
